School
Our Rugby school was established in 2006, with the objective of providing a safe and fun environment for learning to play rugby, right in the heart of Brussels.
We field teams in all age grades from U6 all the way through to U18.
Our players hail from around the globe, including the Celtic nations, UK, Belgium, France, Italy, the Netherlands, North America, South Africa, Japan, and Australia. Training is primarily in English, but Dutch and French are added if non-Anglophone members struggle to understand.

INFORMATION FOR PLAYERS
Boys and girls play together from U6 to U14. Up to U12 they enter regular tournaments with clubs across Belgium. U14, U16 and U18 play in national leagues and usually have a match most weekends. We also host touring international teams.
All teams from U8 and up train twice a week. Teams up to U12 train at the VUB pitch in Ixelles (in front of the VUB tram stop) every Saturday from 9 to 12, plus one weekday session. U12 and younger join tournaments about once a month.
Training times by age category are listed below.
INFORMATION FOR PARENTS
We’re more than a rugby club: each team is a small family within BBRFC Celtic. After training many of us stay for coffee or a drink at our Donation Station. Off the field we take part in social events organised by the School Social Committee.
Rugby School Parents Association: we welcome more parent volunteers to support the school and our kids — the more the merrier. If you want a supportive, energetic, welcoming place for your child, join us. See you on the pitch!

Our Core Values
Respect
Remember you are representing your team, your club, your family and the Game of Rugby. Respect the ‘Game of Rugby’ and play within the Laws of the Game. Winning and losing is part of sport: Win with humility - lose with dignity.
Discipline
As part of the team it is important that you attend training regularly and listen to your coach and help your team. Work with your coaches to set individual goals based on how well you do rather than whether you win. Play with control. Do not lose your temper.
Teamwork
Rugby is a team sport and make sure you co-operate with your coach; teammates and members of your club. At the end of the match thank your opponents and the referee for the match. As a team sport it is important to understand that all members are important to the team.
Sportsmanship
Be a ‘good sport’. Applaud all good play whether by your team or the opposition. Respect your opponent, treat all players as you would like to be treated & do not ‘bully’ or take advantage of any player. Accept the referee’s decision and let your captain or coach ask any relevant questions.
Rugby School Director
At BBRFC Celtic, our Rugby School Director and team are dedicated to supporting everyone who makes our club special: players, parents, and coaching staff alike. We're here to ensure that every member of our rugby family feels valued, connected, and empowered to thrive both on and off the pitch.
Whether you have questions, need guidance, or just want to share in the rugby spirit, we’re here to help. We work hard to ensure our club embodies the values that define us - teamwork, respect, fun, discipline, and sportsmanship - and we’re proud to see these principles in action every day.
Together, we strive to make BBRFC Celtic a community where everyone feels welcome. If there’s anything you need, don’t hesitate to reach out!

Child Safety
You want your child to enjoy rugby in a safe, friendly place where they learn and have fun. Children’s safety and enjoyment are vital for the sport’s future. Though often called “dangerous,” rugby is relatively safe. New rules—like mandatory mouthguards and optional headgear—improve safety. Coaches adapt training and games by age. Safety is regularly reviewed and rules updated. Rugby is played in over 100 countries and is very popular in Japan, Fiji, and Wales, showing it isn’t as risky as many think. Injury risk in rugby is lower than in many other sports.
At BBRFC Celtic, the safety and well-being of every child is our top priority. We are committed to providing a secure, supportive, and nurturing environment where children can thrive both on and off the rugby field. Our coaches follow first-aid courses at least every 2 years, and adhere to strict protocols to ensure the physical and emotional safety of every young player. Through proper coaching, safe tackling techniques, and constant supervision, we strive to make rugby not only a fun and rewarding experience but also a safe one for all. In addition, we have a Child Safety Officer (Tommy Brosnahan) who can be contacted at ANY time if parents or players ever need it.
